I got a call from a local car dealer, who I used to drive for on occasion but hadn't in about a year and a half. He bought a car from an auto auction in San Diego and asked if I'd fly over and bring it back. It's a 2004 Black Lexus and the good news is, it is parked at the airport. So I agreed to do it on Saturday. Flights looked good. Friday night I get a call from my sister who just happens to be in San Diego visiting another sister. Turns out they were planning on driving a family friend back to Phoenix when they returned, but discovered they didn't have the room to bring him back. So I was asked to drive him back and was glad to do it.
I caught the 7:30 flight to San Diego and we arrived a little early, about 8:40. Overcast and cool, good thing I brought a sweatshirt. My nephew was set to meet me at the airport with his friend right at 9:00 and he was on time. The car is parked at one of the long term lots but we did not know how to get there so we decided to follow the shuttle. We left the airport right behind him and he swung around to the other terminal, then left there and swung back to the terminal we were at originally, then back to the other terminal again. Finally it dawned on us the shuttle had no passengers so he was not returning to the garage, he was just circling until he got a customer. So the next time he stopped, we jumped out and got in the shuttle.
Not much to say about the run...it was uneventful. Crossed the desert and made it home. Saw a record number of Border Patrol agents out and about. My passenger had spent most the last week in Tijuana and had some fresh made tortillas that we ate on the road. Net profit about $180
